JUVENILE ARE "NOT" ADULTS!!!!

JUVENILES WAITING TO DIE IN PRISON

http://socialistworker.org/2013/05/28/juveniles-left-waiting-to-die

Excerpt......a must read full article

"Prosecutors and judges view the juveniles they sentence to natural life as people who cannot be changed, but studies have proven this to be untrue. It was Illinois legislators who voted to remove rehabilitation from prisons where inmates are serving long sentences, and it must be the Illinois legislators who provide second chance to the kids sentenced to die behind prison walls........."

"Children" are young and vulnerable and can be easily led down a wrong path. They do deserve a chance, to get on the right path and become productive members of society, NOT face the rest of their lives with doom and deaths, justice must be tempered with "compassion and mercy"
People of America  MUST wake  up to these atrocities of INjustice.

Thanks to Mr. Mark Clements for sharing this important issue for public awareness.

Court upholds most Pa. 'kids for cash'

http://www.philly.com/philly/wires/ap/news/state/pennsylvania/20130524_ap_courtupholdsmostpakidsforcashconvictions.html

It is so imperative for parents and children to be in the know of your legal and miranda rights, but even then, these cases could have been anyone. The emotional trauma endured by these children and parents, will  last a long time. Justice must be truth, compassion and mercy.

At 16, 42 yrs prison time/GROSS/HORRIBLE INJUSTICE

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/therootdc/post/state-of-equality-and-justice-in-america-the-presumption-of-guilt/2013/05/17/49a51a42-bf07-11e2-89c9-3be8095fe767_blog.html

Excerpt........please read full article

"Children as young as five years old are being led out of classrooms in handcuffs for acting out or throwing temper tantrums.  They have been arrested for throwing an eraser at a teacher, breaking a pencil, and having rap lyrics in a locker.  Black children constitute 18% of the nation’s public school population but 40% of the children who are suspended or expelled........."

"Infractions"? Children, as well as adults, we all make mistakes, children are still growing, they must have guidance and discipline in their growing years, NOT arrested, jailed, that does NOT "teach" them right from wrong, but only leads to trauma, rebelllion, anger and total disrespect for the "system" officials that detain them. There ARE alternative "solutions", to "help" instead of "harm", IMO

Supreme Court~Jackson/Miller case/ Questions of "RETROACTIVE"

http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/11pdf/10-9646g2i8.pdf

All states are grabling with this supreme court ruling of 2012 in reference to juvenile sentencing.

With Jackson, age of 14 in  1999, and Miller, age 14,  in 2003, this sure sounds like "retroactive" ruling to me,  those two children have been in prison for a no. of years, so makes sense of being "retroactive", IMO......yet many children will again face these sentences handed out, until it is made clear, is the supreme court's last ruling "retroactive" or NOT???

Lawyers Blog...Can Kids be sentenced to LIFE IN PRISON?

http://blogs.lawyers.com/2013/05/kids-sentenced-to-life-in-prison/

A must read, a discussion of the states and how they are handing the juvenile issue sentencing since the supreme court ruling.

"Children" are so easily influenced, vulnerable, they are their environment, surroundings, and the world in which they live. They "learn" from others, good or bad, those caught up in the "system", did NOT get to where they are today, ALL BY THEMSELVES.  They are exposed, daily, to such a large variety of things/items, to go down the wrong path, it is the duty of "adults" to discipline/guide them/help them to become a productive member of society. Justice must be tempered with compassion and mercy, NOT contribute to their destruction and loss of their very lives.
