"Policies that automatically lock children away with no hope of release are inconsistent with American values. The Obama administration has an opportunity to move our country forward on juvenile justice reform — an issue that was a priority to Barack Obama when he served in the Illinois Legislature.
The administration should implement meaningful juvenile justice reforms that uphold the dignity and human rights of our children and ensure that no child in our nation is deemed a throwaway person."

"Some jurisdictions are starting to pull back the pedal on youth incarceration. Georgia recently passed a law that would dramatically reduce the number of kids sent to prison. An odd national coalition made up of progressives, racial justice advocates, anti-drug war campaigners, right-wing evangelicals, and libertarians are pushing prison reform laws around the country."

Law allows trials partly as adults, partly as juveniles. -

Paul Henry Gingerich was ONLY 12 years of age, there should be alternative solutions, NOT

placing children with "adults."  They cannot "learn" to follow a "good" path, when placed

with "adults."    Children are so young, so vulnerable, easily led and influenced, IMO

JUSTICE FOR SARA KRUZAN

http://jjie.org/justice-for-sara/

Excerpt.....please read full article, Sara, indeed deserves her freedom, she was ONLY a child and most deserving a "chance" to become a "productive member" of society. She has suffered greatly, more than any child should have to endure....

"According to tweets from Liliana Segura, an editor at The Nation, and Prison Reform Movement, around 5:00 p.m. the California Parole Board decided it was time for Sara to be released. She was “found suitable for parole” according to  Tamar Birckhead, a University of North Carolina law professor and frequent contributor to JJIE, and “still needs [the] governor’s signature, but it’s coming.”

EXCERPT......PLEASE read all of this most important article, please share with those in your world, be certain to look at the links available at the end of this article, all are astounding!

"For years, it was fairly easy for people in the pharmaceutical and medical industries to label Healy, Kirsch and Breggin as alarmists. But two summers ago, one of the most prominent members of U.S. medical establishment, Marcia Angell, former editor-in-chief of New England Journal of Medicine, published an article damning the over-prescription of psychoactive drugs. In two essays in the June 23, 2011[4] and July 14, 2011 [5] New York Review of Books, Angell backed arguments by the university clinician Kirsh, the mental heath journalist Robert Whitaker, and Boston psychiatrist Daniel Carlat that there is something extremely suspicious about the following trends: the number of people treated for depression has tripled since the launch of Prozac in 1987; 10 percent of Americans over age six are taking antidepressants; and 30 antipsychotics like Risperdal, Zyprexa and Seroquel are replacing cholesterol-lowering agents as the top-selling class of drugs in the U.S., largely because they are being prescribed to children..........."
